While a little bit of sugar here and there may not seem like a big deal, let's be real -too much sugar is like pouring gasoline on a fire. It's going to wreak havoc on your health, and trust me, you don't want to be caught in the flames.

Eating too much sugar can cause insulin resistance, which basically means your body is in fat storing mode nearly all the time.

I’m sure you can guess what the result of being in fat storing mode is, right? If you’ve found weight creeping on despite your best efforts, maybe this is the reason. It also puts you at higher risk of chronic diseases like diabetes and heart disease, and I’m going to assume that’s not the future you imagine living. Even your immune system suffers when it must deal with sugar by becoming weakened, and that’s the last thing any of us need. Not to mention the way sugar affects your mood… hello sugar, hello depression!

Oh, and if you ever find yourself getting ‘hangry’ - it’s probably your body crying out for it’s fix of sugar!

Sugar may be sweet, but it’s not so kind to your brain. In fact, consuming too much sugar can have some negative effects on your gray matter. For starters, sugar can mess with your brain's ability to regulate your appetite, leading to cravings and overeating. It can also cause rapid spikes and crashes in your blood sugar levels, leading to irritability, anxiety, and difficulty concentrating.

And over time, excessive sugar intake has been linked to an increased risk of developing conditions like dementia and Alzheimer's disease.

In other words, sugar is a brain drain.

It may give you a quick sugar high, but it’s not doing your mental health any favors. So, if you want to protect your brain and keep it functioning at its best, it's time to kick sugar to the curb.
